Week of February 24
Official Synopsis: Bailey Hoskins has just discovered he’s a mutant. For someone who’s never been special, never stood out, discovering he’s “gifted” is truly a gift—entry into the halls of Xavier’s School for Gifted Children and into the ranks of the world-famous X-Men! Unfortunately…Bailey might just be the worst X-Man ever. Max Bemis, frontman of the band Say Anything, kicks off his first Marvel miniseries by teaming with stellar artist Michael Walsh (SECRET AVENGERS, HANK JOHNSON) to bring us the story of a misfit among misfits.
Why You Should Buy This: The first in a new five issue miniseries, Worst X-Man Ever looks to be a delight to read. By the look of the cover, it can be assumed that his book is not canon, which is a nice break from the confusing continuity of the current All-New All-Different Marvel Universe. With gorgeous art by Michael Walsh, this book is a must read.
Official Synopsis: The villain pulling the Avengers’ strings stands revealed – someone who’s been a part of Avengers history for almost all of the team’s existence, in a way you’ve never seen them before! The All-New, All-Different Avengers’ first story arc ends here – and you won’t guess who’s left standing on the last page.
Why You Should Buy This: Though this book started off slow, the All-New All-Different Avengers is starting to become a good book. (PS: Love the homage to the cover of Avengers 57) (PPS: Our guess for who’s left standing on the last page is either Vision, Ultron, Hank Pym, or Wasp)
Official Synopsis: Squirrel Girl has been sent back in time to the sixties, which would be fine I guess, except now the future is ruled by Doctor Doom! Anyway, that’s not her fault, but she’s still fixing it because she’s just THAT GOOD. The final battle between Doctor Doom, Squirrel Girl and… an old-lady version of Squirrel Girl from the future?? Yes! Meet the sensational character find of 2016: AN OLD LADY! Fun fact: Besides adults literally fighting each other, this issue also features SEVERAL jokes! Don’t miss the hit comic featured on Entertainment Weekly’s Must List (which was several months ago for everyone reading this, but it was just yesterday when this text was being written and we’re all still very excited about it!)!
Why You Should Buy This: The final battle between Doctor Doom and Squirrel Girl! Even though the new Doctor Doom is an interesting character, it is so awesome to see the old him facing off with one of the only people who has ever beaten him. Plus the addition of an old lady Squirrel Girl! (Old Woman Green? Old Lady Doreen? So many naming possibilities!)
Official Synopsis: Facing roadblocks at every turn, A.D.A. Matt Murdock struggles to build a case against the duplicitous founder of the Church of the Sheltering Hands, Tenfingers, who’s not so secretly amassing power in Chinatown. Meanwhile, Daredevil’s continued fight against the villain is stuck at a stalemate. With his back against the ropes, the Man Without Fear seeks help from the most seasoned super hero he knows —Steve Rogers!
Why You Should Buy This: With the upcoming release of Daredevil Season 2, Marvel is making sure the Man Without Fear’s series is as good as it can be. The introduction of the new villain to the Marvel Universe, Tenfingers, has been handled delightfully so far, so no reason to see why this issue should be any different. The relationship between Steve Rogers and Matt Murdock is one of the most interesting ones in the Marvel Universe, so I personally can’t wait to see how Charles Soule addresses it.
